A Year in Photo - Day 10

We are big Kelowna Rockets fans and while we waited for the Memorial Cup to start, I asked Steve to put his jersey on so I could take a photo. Well he had a better idea, put the jersey on our dog Sig. Trying to get Sig's attention for the photo, I kept calling his name, and he got so excited he started to cheer. My two favourite guys, supporting our team.

A Year in Photo - Day 9

I'm taking a two day Machine Quilting class from an amazing instructor, Laurie Turiq, and learned some really cool techniques today; I'm exhausted but so content. Looking forward to day two next Saturday.

A Year in Photo - Day 8

Being an Auntie is so amazing and with another little niece on the way, I cherish the moments I get to spend with Kennedy. She makes me laugh and amazes me with her intelligence. I don't get to spend near as much time as I'd like with her but we make up for lost time when we do see each other. Today we went out for sushi, her favourite food, bought and planted flowers, read stories, sewed a hot/cold bag and I diffused to hair to make it curlier (she LOVED it). AND, she's even having her first sleepover at our house. Love this little girl to pieces.

A Year in Photo - Day 7

I've never been much of a green thumb, in fact I would consider myself to be more like a black thumb. But every year I try and each year I'm getting better at watering my plants and flowers and....surprise, surprise, they are living through the summer!! So far the rain has been helping me out quite a bit and they are looking great.

A Year in Photo - Day 6

I spent the day with this beautiful lady (and her crazy friend) while she got her first tattoo. So much thought and research went into this process and I am SO proud of her for making the decision that was best for her, getting a tattoo. I've tossed around the idea of getting a tattoo but I have never been able to nail down what or where. All I know is I want something symbolic and meaningful. Watching my sister trust her gut and follow her heart made me realize I need to do the same, in all aspects of my life.

A Year in Photo - Day 5

Ten years ago if you would have told me that I would be an avid quilter I probably would have laughed. My Mom is a quilter and while I appreciated the art, I never had any interest in doing it myself. But when I found myself off work due to my depression and anxiety, I needed to find something that would keep my mind and hands busy without causing stress. To my surprise, I found solace in quilting and now I'm hooked.

My latest project, an I-Spy quilt. I have hundreds more hexagons, these are just a few; I will join them all once I have finished sewing them. I have swapped fabric with people form across Canada and the US, raided my Mom's stash and had many donated. It has been a lot of work but one of my favourite quilts yet.

A Year in Photo - Day 4

As I rode my bike in the beautiful sunshine today, I had to stop and take a picture. 3 years, 12 days ago I spent the perfect day here, at the Benvoulin Heritage Church. Surrounded by the people we love the most, Steve and I got married at the most beautiful venue in Kelowna. Brought back some amazing memories.

A trip down memory lane.

Welcome to My Blog, Bucket List Documented

From the moment I watched the movie The Bucket List I fell in love with the idea of identifying things I want to do and making a list of them. And with the invention of Pinterest, I quickly began creating a long list of all the things I want to do before I die. Like, I want to run a marathon (when I lose weight) or I want to travel the world (when I have enough money) or I want to live happily ever after. But what I've realized is there always seems to be a reason why I can't complete my bucket list, a condition to each item and with that, my list began to feel more like unattainable dreams.

As I flip the page to a new chapter in my life, I'm making some major changes. I want to work on living in the now, in the present, rather than waiting for that magical time, when the stars align, when everything is perfect, where I can do all those amazing things I want to do. So I took another look at my list and I realized that there are plenty of things I can do right now, I just have to take the step forward and make it happen. My first list item is to take a photo everyday for a year, I'm calling it "A Year in Photo". But this won't be the only bucket list item I'm going to check off, big or small I'm not sure which one will be next.

This blog is to document my life, as I live it in the here and now. Challenging myself to take the first step, to do the things that scare me and the ones that make me excited; creating memories, good and bad, along the way and sharing it all with you.

A Year in Photo - Day 3

We've been taking care of Arnie (my sister's 4 month old puppy) for the last few days. Sig has been really good with him, even playing with him sometimes, but his patience is running thin and he is getting possessive of his sticks, snapping at Arnie when he tries to take even one. And then he can't believe it that he gets in trouble. When I walked into the "Man Cave" this morning, this is what I saw.

Feeling a little possessive....

A Year in Photo - Day 2

I spent the afternoon with my neighbour Archie. Archie is a collector of everything, broken or not and after 40 plus years of collecting his daughter finally convinced him to have a garage sale. You have to know Archie to know how HUGE it was to sell his "stock". But to his surprised his one day turned week long garage sale brought quite the payday. He's even considering allowing me to help him organize a tools only sale, possibly next weekend.

A Year in Photo - Day 1

While cruising through Pinterest months ago, I saw a bucket list suggestion to take a photo everyday for a year, so I pinned it and forgot about it. This am a good friend wrote about her observation that most of her friends Facebook posts are either reposts or inspirational quotes, she challenged everyone to share more photos and personal messages. With that, my year of photos begins...

To the morning coffee that keeps us sane, cheers!
